Raindrops and Teardrops

The first warning sign
A tickle in my eye
I get the urge to wipe away
There’s a hardness in my throat
That makes it hard to talk
Air caught in my windpipe
Too late to make a sound

Raindrops and teardrops
Storm clouds over rooftops
I can’t see ‘em
But I feel ‘em coming around
Teardrops, like raindrops
The first bolt of lightning warned me
I think a big one’s coming down

It had been a long time
Not a cloud in the sky
Bluebirds singing every day
But I ain’t seen a feathered bird
Ever since the weather turned
They heard the thunder
And up and flew away

Raindrops and teardrops
Storm clouds over rooftops
I can’t see ‘em
But I feel ‘em coming around
Teardrops, like raindrops
The first bolt of lightning warned me
I think a big one’s coming down

Every day will be high tide
For forty days and forty nights
I’m buttoned down
Riding out the storm

Raindrops and teardrops
Storm clouds over rooftops
I can’t see ‘em
But I feel ‘em coming around
Teardrops, like raindrops
The first bolt of lightning warned me
I think a big one’s coming down
